Paper Submission
Papers must not substantially overlap with papers that have been published or are simultaneously submitted to a journal or another conference with proceedings. Papers must be written in English; they should be at most 12 pages in total, including bibliography and well-marked appendices. Papers should be intelligible without appendices, if any.

Accepted papers will be presented at the conference and published in the IFIP AICT (Advances in Information and Communication Technology) Series by Springer. Submitted and accepted papers must follow the publisher's guidelines for the IFIP AICT Series (www.springer.com/series/6102), Author templates, Manuscript preparation in Word). At least one author of each accepted paper must register to the conference and present the paper.

All papers must be submitted in electronic form through the web via www.wcc2010.org by the deadline indicated below. Papers submitted after this deadline will be discarded without review.

Overview
Wireless ad hoc networks have attracted the attention of the research community in the last several years. Now, that some of the fundamental issues and challenges have been clearly assessed, the focus is partially shifting to new issues, which include application scenarios (road safety, disaster recovery, sensors and actuators, etc.), autonomous organization and operation, optimization and control, and service creation and support. Moreover, new and exciting challenges are posed by closely related networks such as wireless mesh networks, sensor networks, and vehicular networks.

Med-Hoc-Net is a major annual international workshop, aiming to serve as a platform for researchers and visionaries from academia, research labs, and industry. Following Sicily (2006), Corfu (2007), Palma de Mallorca (2008), and Haifa (2009), Med-Hoc-Net 2010 will take place in Juan-les-pins (France).

AIM and SCOPE
The solicited papers cover a variety of topics related to ad hoc, wireless, sensor, and mesh networks, including but not limited to:

* Routing algorithms and protocols

* MAC protocols, scheduling, power control, and resource allocation

* Transport layer protocols for multi-hop networks

* Middleware for ad hoc networks

* Application driven architectures and protocols

* Sensor network applications and protocols

* Vehicular networks

* Cognitive radio networks

* Integration of ad hoc networks with wireless access networks

* Implementations, testbeds, and prototypes

* Technology related issues (IEEE 802.11, 16, 21, 22, Bluetooth, ZigBee)

* Self organization and network reconfiguration

* Use of advanced antenna technologies (MIMO, beam forming, etc.)

* Security and privacy

* Cross layer design mechanisms

SUBMISSION
Submissions should be original and limited to 8 pages in length. Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts electronically through the EDAS Web Site.

PROCEEDINGS AND AWARDS
The proceedings of the conference will be published by IEEE (under request) and the best papers will be published in the Annals of Telecommunications (ISI indexed journal). A best paper award will be distributed.

Three Postdoctoral Research Fellows

Model-Based Design and Verification

The rCOS Team at UNU-IIST is looking for three postdoctoral research fellows in the area of model-based design and verification techniques, and tool development.

Research topics include, but are not limited to:

* Research on Formal Methods with application to Software Engineering (e.g. semantics of OO, model- and program transformation, correctness by construction, refinement).

* Formal use of UML and tool development for model-driven design and analysis.

* Specification languages for verification properties, their expressiveness and visualization.

* Efficiency of runtime monitors: analyse, visualize and improve performance of runtime monitors.

* Guided runtime verification: combine testing and runtime verification.

* Synthesize and monitor runtime checks in generated code from specifications.

Requirements:

We are seeking young research scientists with (or in the process of obtaining) a PhD in computer science. The successful applicants should have background in one of the following fields: model checking, runtime verification, (model based) testing, theorem proving. OO programming experience is of advantage. Good English speaking and writing skills are necessary.

The rCOS Modeler for use case-driven design of component-based systems using UML covers both the rCOS specification language in a pre/postcondition style, and a graphical editor to develop component models. Several back-ends address verification/model checking, code generation, and test case-generation. The tool is made available as an Open Source product.

Besides research, the successful applicants will also be involved in helping to supervise postgraduate students from developing countries recruited to the project as UNU-IIST fellows, and are invited to participate in other activities of the institute.

Conditions:

The postdoctoral positions are contract appointments starting with one year, renewable depending on performance. Salary will be in the range 2,500-3,500 USD per month paid without deduction of tax. UNU-IIST will provide medical insurance and a fully-furnished apartment (exclusive of utility expenses).

Research Group:

The rCOS group has a track record of attracting young international Post Docs to jump start their academic careers. Research will be conducted in close cooperation with the international rCOS team, colleagues at UNU-IIST, and colleagues in Norway, Denmark, Germany and China (including universities in Macau). The group is led by Dr. Zhiming Liu <http://rcos.iist.unu.edu/%7Elzm/> and part of UNU-IIST's Information Engineering Programme. There are current two projects, Harnessing Theories for Tool Support (HTTS) and Applied Runtime Verification (ARV). HTTS is a joint project with the University of Macau, ARV in collaboration with the University of Oslo, Norway, and the Institute of Software at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.

UNU-IIST is a Research and Training Centre of the United Nations University. Its mission is to help developing countries strengthen their education and research in computer science and their ability to produce computer software. It thus provides a unique setting with a proven record in the application of mathematical methods to the production of useful theories for practical problems and for training young researchers in Formal Methods and Theoretical Computer Science. Macao is a multi-cultural city blending Asian and Western elements, about one hour from Hong Kong, and offering easy access to China and South-East Asia.

IFIP AI 2010 is one of the constituent parts of the IFIP World Computer Congress. The conference will follow the same format as the highly successful IFIP AI 2008 at the IFIP WCC 2008 in Milan, Italy.

Papers describing original work are invited in the areas listed below or other areas of Artificial Intelligence for oral presentation at IFIP AI 2010.

Acceptance will be based on quality, relevance and originality and the practical value of the work.

Final versions may be submitted in either Word or Latex format but at this stage all papers should be submitted as PDF files. The PERFORMANCE 2010 conference solicits papers on the development and application of state-of-the-art, broadly applicable analytic, simulation, and measurement-based performance evaluation techniques.

Of particular interest is work that presents new performance evaluation methods, or those that creatively apply previously developed methods to understand or to gain important insights into key design trade-offs in computer or network systems.

Performance is broadly construed, including considerations of speed and scalability as well as reliability, availability, and manageability of systems. We particularly encourage submissions including real world empirical studies and focusing on implementation and experimental issues.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

· Performance-oriented design and evaluation studies of: computer networks, mobile devices and wireless networks, distributed and parallel systems, file and storage systems, power management, database systems, computer architectures, operating systems, Web services, fault-tolerant systems, and language and runtime systems.

· Performance methodology techniques and algorithms for: analytic modeling, system measurement and monitoring, model verification and validation, simulation, statistical analysis, experimental design, and reliability analysis.

Full papers will be published in a special issue of the journal Performance Evaluation (Elsevier).
